The European Union Film Festival is back with the 9th edition in Kuala Lumpur from 13th to 23 November. For those who love international cinema, the 9th EUFF will be a fantastic opportunity to discover Europe's best recent productions as well as the past years award winning movies.
The movies will be screened in 3 venues in Kuala Lumpur: at the GSC Mid Valley, at the GSC One Utama, and at the GSC Pavilion KL. Last year, close to 4,000 tickets were purchased, which shows that it has become a most awaited cultural event.
As France took over the presidency of the council of the European Union on the 1st of July 2008, the French Embassy in Malaysia will lead the organization of the EUFF. The festival will show about 19 films from 14 European countries, and the selection will be a wide range of the vitality of European filmmakers. The films will range from comedies to thrillers, from documentaries to dramas...all the themes and the categories will be represented on the magnificent screens of GSC Cinemas. The European cinema offers an alternative view on the world than the commercial and the blockbuster movies from Hollywood, and it shows other qualities, made of diversity -of languages, of culture-, and creativity.
Among the selection we can distinguish "After the Wedding" from Denmark (nominated for the Best Foreign Film at the Oscars in 2007), "Get Away From Me" from Spain (9 Awards), "Paris" , from France (2 million of viewers in 2008 in France), "9 and a Half Dates" from Hungary, "La Febbre" , from Italy, "A Chicken is no Dog" , from Belgium, "Arabian Nights" from Luxembourg, and many more...
Venues: Golden Screen Cinemas
